The Nutcracker
European Classical Ballet

European Classical Ballet presents the famous ballet fairy tale for adults and children, “The Nutcracker,” in Cyprus!

The leading roles in Nicosia and Limassol will be performed by Yana Salenko, prima ballerina of the Berlin State Ballet and guest prima ballerina of the Royal Ballet (Covent Garden), and Boris Zhurylo, soloist of the Hungarian State Opera.

Pyotr Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker is one of the most famous and beloved holiday ballets. It is based on the novella The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, which describes Christmas Eve in a small German town.

Tchaikovsky composed wonderful, deeply meaningful music for this fairy tale. He created a symphonic poem about childhood, the maturing of the soul, the wonders of Christmas night, the battle between light and darkness, and pure love. Floating snowflakes, scary and funny rats, virtuosically dancing dolls—all together immerse the viewer in the atmosphere of a bright holiday.

Picturesque scenery, costumes, and, of course, magnificent music create an atmosphere of magic and inspire viewers of all ages. The Nutcracker innovatively uses musical images and stands apart from the tradition of the ballet genre.

The grace and precision of the dancers of the outstanding international troupe bring to life the characters and emotions that the composer and choreographer have put into every pirouette.

European Classical Ballet consists of first-class ballet artists from European countries—England, Italy, France, Spain, Holland, and Ukraine—who tour many cities around the world every year.
