Guests gathered at Stahlbaum’s house and Drosselmeyer, Marie’s godfather, came with gifts for the children. Among them, a doll designed for cracking nuts – the Nutcracker – stands out. The girl Marie immediately liked this rather clumsy toy with a wide smile. All the children had already gone to bed, but she still couldn’t part with the Nutcracker.
Tchaikovsky composed wonderful music filled with deep meaning for this fairy-tale story. He created a symphonic poem about childhood, about the maturation of the soul, about the wonders of Christmas night, about the battle of light and darkness, about pure love. Aerial snowflakes, scary and funny rats, masterfully dancing dolls - all together immerses the viewer in the atmosphere of a bright holiday.
For more than a century, a visit to the ballet "The Nutcracker" has been one of the traditional winter pleasures. Spectators of all ages go to the ballet, rejoicing at the opportunity to once again plunge into the magical atmosphere of a Christmas fairy tale.
